Living in God’s Truth: Overcoming Fear and Embracing His Love

For much of my life, I’ve been stuck in my head—worrying about things that might never happen, consumed by the “what-ifs” of the future. Instead of taking action and living in the present, I allowed fear and overthinking to paralyze me. For months, God had been nudging me to open my Bible to the Book of Matthew, but I resisted.

Today, I finally listened. I found the passage He wanted me to read: Matthew 6:25-34, which ends with this powerful reminder:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

The answer to my fear had been right in front of me all along.

For so long, I tried to control my life on my own terms. It left me feeling anxious, confused, alone, and in pain—fighting for things that were never meant for me. Time and again, my efforts failed because I was trying to live without God. But now I see that the only way to live in my purpose is to walk with Him.

Whenever I’ve tried to follow God’s way, I’ve felt peace and clarity. Yet, sinful habits and old patterns kept pulling me back, keeping me a slave to my fears and insecurities. But I’ve realized something beautiful: when I trust in the Lord, my life begins to fall into place. My experiences shape me into the person He has called me to be.

This whole time, I was chasing people and experiences that reminded me of my past instead of pursuing what reflects God—His love, His grace, and His respect for me. I longed for the love of my earthly father and sought it in relationships, but now I know that no earthly love can compare to God’s perfect love. He has loved me all along, but I hadn’t allowed myself to truly feel it.

I avoided His love out of fear—fear of change, fear of letting go of my old life, and fear of surrendering my habits and vices. But life in Christ requires transformation. It means shedding the things that weigh us down and embracing His grace.

I’ve learned that the enemy often presents distractions that look appealing, offering what we think we want. But when we take a closer look, we realize these are not from God—they are meant to pull us away from Him. Until we surrender these false comforts, we cannot fully experience His love and presence.

When I live in sin and serve my flesh, my mind is chaotic, my emotions are unstable, and I feel disconnected. I become a version of myself shaped by others’ expectations, not by who God created me to be. But every time I fix my eyes on Him, I find peace. I trust Him with my future. I live in the moment, knowing He has equipped me with everything I need for today.

When I walk with the Lord, I feel His presence as my constant companion. I talk to Him throughout the day, and He feels like my best friend. I no longer chase what isn’t meant for me, because I trust that God will provide exactly what I need.

I want a love that mirrors the love of God—a love rooted in faith, respect, and grace. I want a partner who loves God deeply and strives to love as He does, just as I am striving to do. Together, we can grow closer to Him and to each other. Until I find that kind of love, I know my purpose is to focus on becoming more like Jesus every day.

God fills my cup. He makes me whole. He gives me the strength to release my worries, fears, and anxieties. His Word, His presence, and His love provide the perfect solution to every one of my problems. I’ve finally accepted His truth: He has my best interest at heart. He loves me completely, and now I love and trust Him back.

Truths

  1. Worry and Fear Distract Us from God’s Plan
    • Fear and worry about the future pull us away from living in the present and trusting in God’s provision. (Matthew 6:25-34: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”)

    • Trying to control life on our own terms leads to confusion, anxiety, and failure, while surrendering to God’s way brings peace and purpose.
  3. God’s Love is Perfect and Unfailing
    • Earthly love may fail or leave us longing, but God’s love is constant, fulfilling, and greater than anything we can imagine. (Romans 8:38-39: “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”)
  4. Transformation Requires Letting Go
    • Becoming more like Christ means shedding sinful habits and distractions that keep us from fully experiencing His presence.

  7. Walking with God Brings Peace and Fulfillment
    • A life lived in alignment with God’s will brings calmness, gratitude, and the joy of His presence.
  8. God’s Love is the Foundation for All Relationships
